Kava and Drug Tests

Over the past few years, anecdotes have trickled in from kava drinkers who believe that their consumption of kava has triggered false positives in urine-dip instant drug tests.

An article published in the Journal of Analytical Toxicology in December 2020 implicates the kavalactone Kavain as the likely trigger for the false-positive results.

With this survey, we hope to identify which drug testing kits generate false-positives.
